Frequently asked questions

For families

01Is UK Elite Tutors a tutoring school?

No. UK Elite Tutors is a curated education introduction service. We understand the student and family, assess potentially suitable independent UK educators and make a considered recommendation based on educational compatibility. Ongoing lessons are arranged directly between the family and educator.

02Can I browse every educator?

No. UK Elite Tutors is a carefully selected professional network rather than a public directory. We recommend an educator or small shortlist only after understanding the student’s educational context, learning style, goals and family expectations.

03What happens after an introduction?

The family and tutor usually begin with an introductory conversation or trial lesson. If both sides wish to continue, they agree the regular timetable, lesson fee, cancellation arrangements and payment directly.

04What if the first introduction is not suitable?

We gather feedback and consider whether a further introduction is appropriate within the matching period and terms agreed before the search begins. The precise replacement arrangement is confirmed with the family in advance.

05Can you guarantee a grade or admission outcome?

No. A tutor can provide expert teaching, explanation, feedback and academic guidance, but no responsible service can guarantee a grade, examination result or university admission decision.

06Why do Chinese families use UK Elite Tutors instead of contacting educators directly?

Families are not simply choosing a teacher; they are deciding whom to trust with a student’s progress. Our understanding of UK educators and Chinese families allows us to assess compatibility, explain why an introduction may work and reduce decisions based only on profiles or availability.

07Do tutors need to speak Chinese?

No. Many students approach UK Elite Tutors specifically because they want to study with an English-speaking UK educator. We help explain the family’s expectations and the student’s background so that both sides begin with greater clarity.

08Are the students all based in China?

Not necessarily. The focus is Chinese families and Chinese students, including those living or studying internationally. Online teaching allows introductions across locations where the timetable is practical.

Introductions and fees

09How does the introduction service work?

We first understand the student’s curriculum, current level, goals, learning habits, communication style and family expectations. We then consider educator expertise, teaching approach, personality and availability before recommending an educator or small shortlist with a clear explanation of the potential fit.

10When is an introduction considered accepted?

An introduction is normally accepted when the family and educator decide to continue with regular lessons after an initial conversation or trial lesson. The precise service terms are confirmed before the search begins.

11How are tutor lesson fees arranged?

Each tutor sets their own hourly rate. The rate is shared with the family before a trial or continuing lesson is agreed. Ongoing lesson fees are paid directly to the tutor.

12Is a trial lesson included?

Trial arrangements vary by tutor. Any trial duration and fee are explained before the lesson and are normally agreed and paid directly between the family and tutor.

13Does UK Elite Tutors manage ongoing lessons?

No. We support the understanding, recommendation, communication and coordination before both sides decide to work together. Once an introduction is accepted, the educator and family manage their regular timetable, lesson communication, cancellations and payments directly.

14Does the website process family payments?

No. The website is used for brand information, educator registration and initial contact. Introduction arrangements and family payment instructions are confirmed separately.

Educational pathways and lessons

15Do you cover every curriculum and specification?

No. We proceed only where an educator has relevant subject and curriculum experience. Families should share the examination board or specification where known so that suitability can be checked.

16Which educational pathways do you support?

Requests may include GCSE, IGCSE, IB Diploma, A-Level, university preparation and selected entrance examinations. We proceed only where an educator has the relevant subject, curriculum and student experience.

17What are the academic-integrity boundaries?

Tutors may explain concepts, model approaches, ask questions and provide feedback. They must not complete assessed coursework, examinations, independent investigations or university assignments on a student’s behalf.

For educators

18Are tutors employed by UK Elite Tutors?

No. Tutors join as independent professionals. They are not employees of UK Elite Tutors and remain responsible for their own tax, insurance, availability, lesson arrangements and professional obligations.

19Is it free for educators to join?

Yes. There is no application fee, joining fee or membership charge for educators.

20Does UK Elite Tutors take commission from lesson fees?

No. Tutors keep 100% of the ongoing lesson fees they agree with the family. Lesson fees are paid directly by the family to the tutor.

21Who sets the tutor’s rate?

The tutor does. We record the tutor’s preferred rate or rate range and communicate it clearly before a family proceeds.

22Can a tutor decline an introduction?

Yes. An introduction is an invitation, not an obligation. Tutors receive available context and decide whether they wish to meet the student.

23How are educators reviewed?

Helen personally speaks with prospective educators and reviews their experience, subject expertise, teaching approach, preferred student profile and availability. Evidence of identity, qualifications, references, examiner experience or safeguarding documentation may be requested where relevant.

24Does joining guarantee student introductions?

No. Introductions depend on family demand, subject, level, timetable, rate, teaching approach and overall fit. Acceptance into the network does not guarantee a particular volume of work.

25Will UK Elite Tutors create my professional profile?

We help educators present their experience, subject expertise, teaching style and preferred students clearly for Chinese families. Nothing is published or shared beyond a relevant private introduction without the educator’s approval.

26Can my profile remain private or anonymous?

Yes. Some educators prefer not to publish their identity because of their current employment or professional position. Profiles may be public, private or anonymised by agreement.

27Can current schoolteachers join?

Potentially, yes. Educators must follow their employer’s policies, contractual obligations, conflict-of-interest requirements and safeguarding expectations. UK Elite Tutors does not encourage anyone to breach their current employment terms.

Privacy and professional standards

28How is personal information used?

Information is used to assess suitability, respond to enquiries and support the introduction process. Tutor and family information is shared only where relevant and with appropriate consent. Further details are available in the Privacy Policy.

29What information is shared before an introduction?

We share only the information reasonably needed to assess the potential fit. Personal contact details are not passed between the family and tutor until an introduction has been agreed.

30What happens if there is a safeguarding or professional concern?

Any safeguarding, boundary or professional-conduct concern should be reported promptly to UK Elite Tutors. We may pause or end an introduction while the matter is reviewed and may refer concerns to the appropriate organisation where necessary.
